About us

El Enganche, is a concept design company dedicated to creating beautiful, high-quality options for men and women who love to feel great and comfortable while the body is in movement, whether it be for tango, salsa, zouk, yoga or any other social activity. 

The company was orginally founded by Maria Celia Arias in 2009, while she was finishing her fashion design studies in Buenos Aires and learning tango at the same time.  Celi (as she prefers) received a degree from Hollins University in Virginia, USA in Modern Dance and Arts Administration in 2003.  She has performed and toured as a dancer in NY, choreographed her own works, has worked with different theatres across the USA in creating new programs and now dedicates her time mostly to dancing and creating new styles for the Buenos Aires scene.  El Enganche was inspired by the tango scene which was changing, becoming younger and more hip, but the clothing didn't seem to fit this new environment.  Celi felt the challenge to make someting well designed and new, but completely comfortable and usable at the same time, and thus began El Enganche.  Today the company makes clothing for all dance styles, and transitional pieces that are usable for other occasions.  We also use the best quality fabrics to be found, and pride ourselves on our small home grown production.  It is important that all women of all ages and sizes can wear our clothing and feel comfortable and sexy at the same time, that is our main objective as designers today. 

Today the brand has grown into a huge success, being sold in many stores all over Buenos Aires, and shipped out to many companies and dancers in Europe and the States.  We are still run as a small local business, with Celi as the head designer and Director, Maral Arslanian is Assistant Designer and head of production, Mercedes del Puerto is our one and only in house seamstress.  Many of our dresses are still made in house and are often times one of a kind or short run prints, making each piece unique and often highly desirable, so please keep in mind when making your orders.  Our workshop is open to the public to view our full collection or see us in action by appointment.
